Nice Guy, but I said "Thanks but no Thanks!"

There is so much that goes on here on a daily basis, you could never begin to imagine.  But this is what this blog is all about, just a place to post a few things and give you a look inside the workings of what we have going on here.

About 8 months ago I was contacted by someone who represented Julian Fantechi, Playgirl’s Man of the Year.  Apparently Playgirl got a lot of attention from his spread because it hit the news here in the NY area and I believe nationwide.  Just to bring you up to speed, Julian apparently is a school teacher, I am not sure which grade, but a teacher none-the-less in the NYC area.  His appearance in Playgirl, and letting his dick swing out raised a few eyebrows among parents and the board of education.  As you can imagine, this was some controversy.  Personally, I did not follow it and can’t help you with any details but I read and heard a few things.

Anyway, this representative emailed me, and then left me a phone number.  I am careful about emails and requested that any negotiations be done between myself and Julian directly.  That request was granted.

Fast forward about a week of phone calls and emails.  Julian had been visiting our sites both musclematt.com and privatereddoor.com; apparently he heard about us and according to him thought our sites and our concept was great.  He expressed an interest in doing some video and some photos with us and appearing on both sites in DVD and VOD. 

This is a great compliment to my work, our sites and my methods of doing business, however, after the proverbial “hugging and kissing”  and the volley of compliments I thought of you guys, the visitors, the ones that support us and buy our stuff with undying loyalty.

My question was very simple, "Julian what will you do for me and my DVD buyers that you have not already done?" I understood he was comfortable in front of a camera and being photographed nude was something he had done before, so I felt that question was apporpriate.   Long pause….."Well, I am Playgirl’s man of the year." he said, "I can bring great traffic and attention to your site."  Ok, and… again I asked, "What will you do here that you have not or will not do for anyone else?" "Nude photos, maybe a shower scene” he said.  Then he discussed a fee.  Paying is not an issue, we are here for our crew members to make money so that was no problem, but again, what was I paying for and better yet, what would you pay for?  More nude photos that can be found anywhere on the net.  So that left video, but a nude video of just him in the shower is nothing exclusive.  You can see where this was going, not to bore you with the details, I said “Thanks but no thanks”.

Here’s why: I pride myself on having exclusive content.  The guys you see on our site are truly our buddies or recommended to us by our buddies.  This is set up so that hot everyday low key muscle jocks can make some money and do it with peace of mind; I think you know that alreayd.  There are also others guys that have written in and sent photos and wanted to join the crew for all the right reasons, mainly because we stand alone in every aspect. 

I never wanted to be a clearing house of volume movies with guys you can see everywhere.  I have no interest diluting the value of my work or of my crew by allowing it to be sold and farmed all over the net.  My site is not a stop on the gravy train by porn stars or guys that have been photographed and shot by other sites who are now looking for their next rent payment.  Not to say that I have not discussed cameo appearances by known guys, I am contacted often, but if I do that it has to be the right situation and there has to be something fresh and real.  I do not put out scripted cheesy gay films.  So while I am open to all guys, and all situations who ever they are, it has to work for everyone, me, the talent and you the buyer. I want to be true to our mission here and our commitment, that is why donations to the muscle fund are so crucial.

Having said all that, for me to have been taken in my his title, and his national publicity and allow him to appear here with us without giving it much thought would have done a disservice to my integrity and reputation; as well as to you, our loyal viewers and supporters.  To have him here swinging his dick out or taking a shower would have offered no value to you or me.  I am sure you would have loved to see it, and I am sure it would have sold, but I prefer the money go to my buds that really need it and are really pushing limits they would not do otherwise.  You could see a playgirl model a dozen other places with his dick out.  Who cares…

The perfect example of this are Nick and Adam, and even Matt when he first started.  All these guys really agonized over filming, and had to be seduced with cash and gifts.  That is part of the fun for you.  We know a true egomaniac and alpha male really wants to do it, and gets off on it, it is getting them there and then keeping them there and watching them explore more that is the magic of our sites.  Some guys do it and never again, others are bitten by the whole scene and agree to be featured as a regular crew member; see another post regarding Adam and his progress with us..

I am not about just grabbing traffic, or bragging and name dropping "playgirl" unless it truly adds value to our site.  Let some clearing house site that needs quantity vs quality deal with that, personally I would rather stick to what we do best and film and photograph an unknown muscle guy and continue on the DL with our buddies and their buddies. That is why you guys come here and continue to support our site and our crew through the muscle fund.

I held back on this story for a while, and always wanted to post it, but never thought it was the right time.  It would be just as bad if I were to have run to the key board to just gossip about turning him down, but I thought you should know that a great deal of work, effort and thought process goes into keeping our site growing, yet small, personal and exclusive; all with you, the viewer in mind.

So while we were saying "no" to Playgirl's man of the year we were saying "yes" to new guys that are nervous but excited and willing to explore experience our unique underground.  You will see future posts, audition films,  photos trailers and movies on DVD and VOD of these guys.
